Gordon likes Lasan

Friday, November 13th, 2009

Lasan, whose chef, Aktar Islam, featured on this very site last month, has won yet another award – this time on TV’s ‘The F Word’. They went head to head with the Curry Corner from Cheltenham to see who would come out on top as Britain’s best local curry restaurant. (Wonder if by ‘local’ they mean ‘outside London?’) Needless to say, they won. So, just to add to the congratulations. Nice one Aktar!

Miss Birmingham works out

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Just finished a shoot for Townhouse Communications to show the lengths some ladies (and some men I know too…) will go to in order to look good for the Christmas party. Miss Birmingham, in a gym, in a mini dress, putting on lip gloss. Not a bad way to earn a living.

Niketown photography

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Nike commissioned photography of the new POS at Niketown Oxford Street. Always pretty impressive stuff. Although shooting the windows from the outside in the dark and pouring rain was ‘interesting.’

PR Week features Spark photography

Monday, October 26th, 2009

A recent edition of PR Week featured two shoots by Spark Creative.

One, a businessman on a platform resplendant in a pink shirt and accessories, was McCann Erickson’s work for Ember Inns ‘Drink Pink’ charity campaign, part of which was a survey on the male attitude to wearing pink. Lots of fun on the platform at Birmingham International, with funny looks from the passengers, and a telling off from a grumpy guard because we wanted to use flash.

The second shot was one of a series taken at Simpson’s, one of Birmingham’s Michelin starred restaurants, for a Taste of Birmingham. Two of Brum’s top chefs were invited to cook for their toughest audience yet – children. We covered the event, trying to avoid the five other photographers, radio guys and ITV cameraman. Luckily, everyone was happy, including the kids!
